Dr. Tapati Gupta, Professor, English Department , Calcutta University (Head of Department from 2004-06)

Supervises Ph. D. research in: Early modern drama, Romantic and Victorian British poetry, 19th century Bengali theatre and literature.

Experience:

Has served in the West Bengal Educational Service since 1972 and has taught in various government Colleges, primarily in Presidency College.

Ph.D. Calcutta University, Calcutta, West Bengal, 1984

M.A. in English, Calcutta University

B.A. Honours in English, Presidency College

Research Interests: Literature and the visual arts; Translation – Bangla to English; Art Criticism.

Title of Ph.D. (Calcutta University) Thesis: Identity & Adjustment in Shakespeare’s Problem Plays : studies in an aspect of the relationship between the Individual and society in Measure for Measure, Troilus and Cressida, and Hamlet.
